After watching the latest episode of 'The Hills' the concept of 'frenemies' was brought to my attention. I'm pretty sure everyone has one of these ... and if you say you don't - you're probably lying ... As in the feau 'reality show' Lauren has recently befriended Spencer's sister ( her frenemy ) - now this is where friends and enemies collide, clash, merge, and then become one.
I can say that in my younger days I had a few of these kinds of friends. You keep them around and hopefully keep them on your 'good side' only to prevent any additional drama and unwanted pain from entering your personal life.
Now, what is the purpose of this little edition?! ... I have no idea, the only thing I know is that the young adult female is the stomping grounds for frenemies. With mood swings, irrational emotions, and over the top drama being part of any young girl's life. Horribly disturbing, and inevitably true ... all wrapped into one nice little neurotic package.

The most interesting of all ... is when girls, with all their own drama and endless 'relationship issues' take time out of their lives to indulge in even more of this catty banter. Is it in our blood? Or could it just be me? Because I'm not ashamed to say that I watch 'The Hills' - and in one way or another ... it satisfies that guilty pleasure. As fake, shallow, and hopeless as the show may be. I still can't wait for the next big encounter between Heidi and LC. Pathetic.
So - I suppose the cliche saying comes into play and is appropriately put :
"keep your friends close but your enemies closer..."
